About Us

My approach as a Therapist

Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Art Therapist who completed her Masters of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling from Albertus Magnus College. She has worked in inpatient, outpatient settings, providing individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience working with a broad range of mental health issues including, personality disorders, substance abuse disorders and eating disorders. Katie is an eclectic, person-centered therapist who incorporates Art Therapy into her approach. She will provide you with a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment for you to explore the challenges in your life. Her approach combined with Art Therapy is a unique experience that allows the individual to have multiple modalities to express themselves, rather than just talk therapy. Occasionally putting your feelings into words is difficult, being able to express oneself through art allows the individual a creative outlet where words aren’t always necessary. In her personal experience, she has realized that it is an excellent way for the individual to process emotions that are difficult to face or that they might not know are even there.

Art therapy

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that utilizes the creative process of making art to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals. In art therapy, individuals use various art materials and techniques to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This can include drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and other artistic forms. The goal of art therapy is not necessarily about the final product but to use the creative process as a means of communication and self-exploration. The artwork produced during these sessions can serve as a visual representation of emotions and issues that may be difficult to express verbally.
